MEMBERS of the Bury St Edmunds Women’s Group of the Royal British Legion are looking forward to really setting the standard again.

After nearly a year of fund-raising and appealing for donations, they now have enough money to buy a new standard to replace the current one, believed to be more than 40 years old. The final £300 towards the £1,185 standard came into the kitty with the proceeds of a garden party on Saturday at the Fornham St Martin home of chairman Beryl Dykes, which marked the 85th anniversary of the group.

It is hoped the standard will be made in time for Armistice Day on November 11.
