Re-enactment group Legion X1111 brought Roman Britain to Year 7 and 8 pupils at St Benedict’s School in Bury. Pupils learned how to set up a Roman camp, enjoyed a weapons demonstration and learned Latin marching commands. Humanities teacher Clare Titcombe, said: “The pupils loved learning about Roman life and especially enjoyed the slave market although I think they would rather have sold the teachers to the pupils.”

Here one of the legionnaires from the Hertford based group is pictured with pupils Ciaran Freeman, Manuel Sanna, and Elizabeth McCuaig.
