Young green businesses in Suffolk and Norfolk offered a lifeline to growth
Green enterpreneurs
People looking to start or grow a green businesses will receive more support thanks to a new scheme launched by the Eastern Enterprise Hub.
The Cool 10 Environmental Entrepreneurs Programme is a specially designed learning and development package that will offer support to green entrepreneurs.
The Eastern Enterprise Hub is looking to recruit the first cohort of students from across Suffolk and Norfolk for the new programme beginning at the end of the year.
It is set to benefit ten entrepreneurs who have an idea for a green business and need support in the early stages, or those who have already established a ‘green’ start-up and want to take the business onto the next phase of development. Candidates are also eligible from within existing businesses, across the two counties, who want to grow their organisation by developing new green products or services or introducing green business principles.
The course will include visits to successful environmental entrepreneurs around the region whilst allowing participants to explore all aspects of establishing an environmental business or a business that trades with environmentally sustainable principles.
Andrea Davies, Eastern Enterprise Hub Chief Executive said “The green economy is hugely important in Suffolk and Norfolk with many new businesses being launched in this sector.
“It is vital to support these new enterprises in their early stages to help them establish successfully and accelerate their growth going forward.
“These new businesses will bring the combined benefits of economic growth and environmental sustainability.”
The package of support for early stage businesses in the green economy has been welcomed by New Anglia LEP and the Green Pathfinder Manifesto Board.
Mark Pendlington, Chairman, Green Economy Pathfinder Board said: “Suffolk and Norfolk are well placed to lead the development of the UK’s green economy and we welcome the positive steps that organisations like the EE Hub are taking to support businesses at the forefront of green economic growth.”
Iain Dunnett, Green Economy Pathfinder Co-ordinator, New Anglia LEP said: “Suffolk has long led the way in terms of the green economy and green innovation – now we are leading the way in terms of specialist enterprise support for environmental entrepreneurs.”
