Woman who stole nearly £5,000 only has £1

An NHS administrator who stole thousands of pounds of patient’s money has just £1 available to pay back.

Carolyn Green, 65, of Wigston Road, Stowmarket, took £4,980 from patients’ deposits at Stow Lodge in Stowmarket.

In November she pleaded guilty to theft from an employer, was made the subject of a community order. Yesterday she returned to Ipswich Crown Court for a hearing to recoup the stolen money.

But the court heard an investigation by specialist officers had established Green’s only assets amounted to a nominal £1.

Judge David Goodin ordered Green to hand over £1 within the next six months or face a day in custody.
