Woman in critical condition after two vehicle crash

A 53-year-old woman is in a critical condition after a two vehicle crash in Stowmarket last night.

Police were called at 4.57pm yesterday to a collision on Combs Lane between a silver Toyota Celica and a blue Renault Clio.

Fire crews from Stowmarket, Elmswell and Needham Market attended the scene.

A 53-year-old woman, who was driving the Renault Clio, was extricated by the fire service and airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital.

A police spokeswoman said she was currently in a critical but stable condition.

A spokewoman for the East of England Ambulance service said a male patient, thought to be in his 30’s, also suffered suspected chest injuries in the collision.

The road was closed at the junction with the B1119 while crews dealt with the aftermath of the crash.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call PC Allie Cotton at the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
