Woman dies in Kentford fire

Police have confirmed that a woman has died in a fire in Kentford.

Fire crews were called to the blaze in Gazeley Road at 9.20am yesterday.

Following an investigation, the body of the woman was found in the property, with a post mortem examination taking place today.

However, the examination failed to establish a cause of death, according to a police spokesman.

The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

A man in his 60s was also taken to West Suffolk Hospital with smoke inhalation. He has now left hospital.

The house - part of which collapsed in the blaze - remains cordoned off for safety reasons.

Police are continuing investigations on behalf of the coroner.
