Woman admits trying to smuggle drugs into Highpoint Prison, Stradishall
A woman who tried to smuggle cannabis into Highpoint Prison in Stradishall has been told that she has only been spared jail because she had no previous convictions.
Lauren Dye, 28, was caught trying to smuggle the drug in July.
She admitted the offence and was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday (14).
David Burgess in mitigation for Dye said she did not realise the seriousness of what she was doing which had been at the request of an inmate.
Judge John Devaux sentenced Dye, of Thames Avenue, Worcester Park, Surrey, to four months in jail suspended for 12 months.
She was also given 12 months supervision while the judge ordered the drugs be forfeited and destroyed.
