Willy Wonka and the chocolate shop in Bury St Edmunds: Have you got a golden ticket?
Not since Willy Wonka offered the chance to tour his chocolate factory has a golden ticket been likely to create such high demand.
An independent shop in Bury St Edmunds is celebrating its 10th anniversary by offering the chance for a golden ticket to win free chocolate for a year.
Owner Catriona Brinkley took over The Bury Chocolate Shop in St Johns Street two years ago.
“We wanted to do something to celebrate the tenth birthday of the shop and to thank all our customers who have supported us over the years,” she said.
“The idea has been inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
“We have had about 80 golden tickets made up so far.”
Customers who spend £10 or more in the shop from tomorrow (2) until next Saturday (10), will be given a golden ticket and entered into a prize draw.
Then one lucky winner will win a different chocolatey prize to collect each month for a year.
Catriona, a self consfessed chocaholic said: “My husband said to me does it ever put you off where you are selling it all day.
“I said ‘Don’t be silly, besides which I have got so much choice’.
“It’s a really nice business to be in and I have such lovely customers.”
The Bury Chocolate Shop has a range of different chocolates including dairy free and chocolate for people with diabetes.
It predominately specialises in Belgian chocolates and stocks about 50 different varties.
You can make up your own bespoke selection or buy a ready made box of chocolates.
The shop also sells chocolates for wedding favours, children’s party treats and Christmas gifts.
