We'll meet again . . . down at the library

Songs from World War Two were sung at Thetford Library on Wednesday as people remembered the war.

Around 45 OAPs from nursing homes and OAP groups gathered to sing Roll out the Barrel, There Will Always be an England, and We'll Meet Again.

Melissa Hawker, from the Ancient House Museum, which organised the People's War Revisited event, said: "We had people from the Dad's Army Museum, in Thetford, a woman dressed as a landgirl and a man dressed as a member of the Home Guard and war objects were handed around.

"They really enjoyed singing the old songs – one particular lady who is 96 was very vocal."

Miss Hawker said the museum planned to hold a similar event next year but may take it to nursing homes to make it easier for the OAPs.
