Violinist triumphs in competition

A TALENTED young violinist has been crowned the winner of a prestigious music competition.

Dominic Seymour, 17, triumphed at the West Suffolk Young Musician Finalists’ Concert at The Apex for his performance of a Mozart concerto movement.

The King Edward VI student, who won the level three element of the competition, was accompanied by his mother Jill. The level two champion was singer Matthew Dougherty, who attends the Perse School, in Cambridge.

Every finalist went away with a £25 Music Sales voucher and Dominic and Matthew received trophies.

Neil Carlson, chairman of the event’s organising committee, said: “We had 100 entrants to the competition this year and the finalists gave the audience a night to remember.”
