A new restaurant opened in Walsham-le-Willows on Saturday, but for one night only.

The pop-up-restaurant in the village’s Memorial Hall was a fund raiser for the Walsham Wild Wood group to raise money to pay legal fees on a 99-year lease for the hectare of land on which they are creating a community wood. They raised more than £500.

The 52 diners chose starters, main courses and desserts in advance from a choice of three each. Group chairman Janette Winch said many village businesses gave time and goods.

Our picture shows Paul Hubbard, right, of Rolfe’s Butchers, who supplied meat at cost price, helping Richard Winch prepare starters. In addition, Shami Gill of Wattisfield Wines gave the proceeds of a bar and Sally Harris’ Good for Parties catering company prepared some of the food.

Other dishes were prepared by Wild Wood committee members.
