Varied display put on by town’s clubs
Mildenhall Clubs and Organisation day
GARDENERS and Guides gathered to showcase their achievements at Mildenhall Clubs and Organisations Day.
More than 20 clubs set up stalls in the town’s precinct last Saturday to show what they do and to attract new members.
John Bloodworth, vice-chairman of organisers Mildenhall Parish Council, said: “We were very pleased really the weather was kind to us –we were reasonably well attended.”
The event was opened by MP for West Suffolk, Matthew Hancock.
A wide variety of clubs aimed at all ages and interests took part, including Barton Mills Women’s Institute (WI), Mildenhall Museum, Mildenhall Guides and Browines and the town’s flower club.
Christine Rivett, president of Barton Mills WI, said: “We had a lot more people approach us this year.
“I think it’s a good opportunity people do not feel any obligation it just gives you a chance to just have a general chat.”
Cllr Bloodworth said he spoke to people during the day who had not realised the diverse range of activities available in the town.
He said: “There’s a lot of people who get tremendous fun out of belonging to different organisations – the children seem to enjoy going to the clubs.”
