Two men face historic sex charges
Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with sex crimes alleged to have been committed more than 30 years ago.
Philip Barty, 54, of Bury Street, Stowmarket and Robert Reynolds, 77, of Main Road, Kirk Michael, Isle of Man, are accused of abusing a child in the late 1970s.
Today both men appeared at Ipswich Crown Court where they spoke only to confirm their names at a preliminary hearing.
Barty is charged with the rape of a girl under the age of 16 between August 1978 and August 1980.
Reynolds is charged with three counts of rape of a girl aged under 16 and committing an act of gross indecency with a girl aged under 14 years between August 1978 and August 1980.
Judge David Goodin told Barty and Reynolds that they would continue to be granted conditional bail until their next court appearance on April 5 for a plea and directions hearing.
