Tributes for ex-Navy man killed in crash

A family has paid tribute to a Wickhambrook father-of-two, who died in an accident on the A14.

Graham Rasmussen, 62, of Bury Road, Wickham Street, died when his van was involved in a collision with a lorry on the westbound section of the road between the A1303 and the A11 Newmarket South at Bottisham, last Monday.

In a statement, his family said: "Graham will be missed dearly by his family and friends. We would like to thank everyone for their support."

Mr Rasmussen served in the Royal Navy for 10 years as a diver and mine disposal expert. After leaving the Navy, he worked around the world as a diving consultant in the gas and oil industry for more than 30 years.

He leaves Linda, his wife of 35 years, and two sons, Lee and Mark.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the three vehicle collision at 1.24pm on July 20, when a blue and white articulated truck was involved in a collision with Mr Rasmussen's stationary white van. The third vehicle – a silver Maxus van – was also stationary after breaking down.

No-one else was injured in the incident.

A 63-year-old man from Sheffield has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed until September 14.

Anyone with information about the incident should call Cambridgeshire Police road traffic unit on 0345 4564564.
