A FUN day inspired by the sacrifice of a 19-year-old naval man during the Falklands War has raised more than £900 for charity.

Trevor Turner, 53, from Brandon, organised the day at The Ram Hotel on Sunday to fund-raise for Help for Heroes.

The event was partly inspired by Mr Turner’s friend, Alistair Leighton, who was killed while serving on HMS Ardent.

“We were both cadets growing up,” said Mr Turner.

“I wanted to do something positive to remember him, and my dad, who served 23 years in the Army, and the day ended up going really well.”

Around £900 was raised on the day, with more expected to come in.

The crowd were treated to live music and DJs, including two sets from upcoming star, 11-year-old Arianna Morgan.
