Transport gets £500k boost

Norfolk County Council has pledged £500,000 to support and improve rural transport and another £10,000 to a rights of way project.

The council says the investment will allow it to develop a more ‘demand-responsive’ system, targeted at communities which lack a commercial service.

Graham Plant, cabinet member for planning and transportation, said: “We want to offer guaranteed connections, through-tickets and good interchange facilities.

“To do this we need to invest in the infrastructure of bookings and ticketing, to help make people’s journeys easier.”

A £10,000 investment is also being made in a new Norfolk Trail to run from Thetford to King’s Lynn.

The trail will become part of a circular route right around Norfolk when the coastal path, currently being mapped by Natural England, is completed.
