Town wants more events

NEEDHAM Market Town Council hopes other major events will be held in the town – after the huge success of its recent Paralympic Flame Celebration.

Town Clerk Kevin Hunter attended a debriefing meeting on Wednesday attended by representatives from Mid Suffolk District Council, the Paralympic movement and disability charity Optua.

Mr Hunter said the town should be considered to host other high profile events.

He said: “The Flame Celebration was an extremely successful event.

“We have got a great location, very close to transport links.

“The success of the flame celebration has given people confidence that the town is capable of putting on events of this magnitude.”
