SHOPPERS in Stowmarket are being encouraged to go green after new recycling bins were installed in the town centre.
Mid Suffolk District Council and Stowmarket Town Council have joined forces to provide the bins on a trial basis, enabling visitors to recycle cardboard, paper, plastic and cans.
Cllr Roy Barker, portfolio holder for recycling, said: “Visual inspection shows that a majority of litter disposed of in the town centre bins could be recycled.
“Most of us are now in the habit of recycling wherever possible and the new bins will enable us to recycle some items of litter that would have previously been sent to landfill.”
The bins will be located in the town’s market place and also near the Regal Cinema.
