Rhythmic dancing cranes may be seen at Lakenheath Fen towards the end of February.

Two pairs of the regal birds have been resident at the reserve for six years.

Their courtship dance involves lots of strutting and jumping.

David White, Lakenheath Fen’s Information Officer, said: “Despite being such large birds, cranes are really good dancers! One of our volunteers once commented that it looked like they were doing the Hokey Cokey!”

The best chance to see the birds’ dance is at Joist Fen viewpoint from late February to early March.
