Thetford to get a Morrisons as Asda bid fails

Breckland Council’s Planning Committee has ended a ‘supermarket war’ by opting to give permission for a new Morrisons for Thetford.

The committee’s choice - made at a meeting this morning - means the end of a bid from developers that would have seen an Asda store built in London Road.

The Morrisons store will now go ahead on a site on Mundford Road, a move which should kickstart the development of the long-awaited Thetford Enterprise Park.
