Teenagers have a ball

Ball skills were on display in Nowton Park on Wednesday as teenagers enjoyed some football-themed half-term fun.

Five-a-side teams from Mildenhall, the youth offending team and the Westley and Moreton Hall estates, in Bury, were among those to take part in the event.

As well as playing plenty of football in the unseasonal weather, the teenagers, aged 14-19, were treated to freestyle football and BMX demonstrations from Streetball Extreme.

Youth service co-ordinator Nathan Vincent said the event, which cost about 2,500, was funded with youth opportunity money, whereby youngsters can bid for schemes they want to take part in.

"They had a great day and the freestyle skill demonstrations certainly went down well. It was good that the weather held out as well," he said.
