Taking the plunge for Judith

More than 30 brave fund-raisers helped launch a campaign in memory of a fitness instructor after leaping into an unheated open air pool on New Year’s Day.

Friends and family of Judith Lindley-Neilson used the plunge into the six degree water at Moreton Hall Health Club to kick off ‘Judith’s 50/50’, which will include various events to collect money for her two favourite charities Water Aid and Teenage Cancer Trust.

It also celebrated what would have been the 50th birthday of Ms Lindley-Neilson, who was an instructor at the club and died in October.

More than £3,000 has already been raised for the charities through the sale of a Moreton Hall Calendar Men, Judith’s 50/50 t-shirts as well as donations and other events.

Other events being planned include a 60’s dance at the Sugar Beet factory, a summer party and auction at Moreton Hall, involvement in the Great Swim series, Lands End to John O’Groat’s cycle ride, a channel relay swim, a 100 mile relay swim, coffee mornings and suppers.
