Survival rates ‘good’

THE EAST of England Ambulance Service (EEAST)is second in the country for cardiac arrest survival rates, new figures have revealed.

Taken from Ambulance Clinical Quality Indicators, the annual rates for EEAST are 24.7 per cent, with only London, at 31.7 per cent, scoring higher.

Doctor Pamela Crispin, deputy chief executive and medical director, said she was ‘delighted’ that initiatives taken had improved rates.

She added: “We have a large number of community first responders who provide immediate life-saving care, often before arrival of the ambulance crew. We are encouraging development of community public access defibrillator schemes and providing public education about how to carry out CPR.”
