THE sun finally made its long-awaited breakthrough just in time for the Buckingham Beer Festival at Buckingham Rugby Club on Saturday.

Club chairman Julian Cook said: “It was a brilliant day. It exceeded expectations. We’d put a huge marquee on the patio, which actually turned out to be a godsend – not to keep the rain off but to keep the sun off!

“It was a superb family day with people having picnics out on the pitch.

“The queues for the barbecue were endless – it didn’t get put out once.”

And he said special thanks go to Ian Hewitt, who arranged 12 hours of live music from local bands, and Pete Gibbs who provided sound for the musicians.
