Suffolk Green Party launches first manifesto ahead of elections
The Green Party has launched its first manifesto for Suffolk as it hopes to make gains in the upcoming county elections.
The party’s package of local policies aim to improve the resilience of the economy and local food chains as well as tackle educational performance and ‘ideologically driven outsourcing’ while creating sustainable jobs and safer streets.
As voters take to the polls in May, the Greens are fielding at least 50 candidates for the authority’s 75 seats.
Their manifesto has been endorsed by Green Party leader Natalie Bennett and MP Caroline Lucas.
Priorities in the document include:
n Stop outsourcing and privatising council services ‘for the sake of ideology and dogma’
n Target help to Suffolk schools based on their needs , not on what tier they are in.
n Phasing in 20mph speed limits in residential roads where communities want them.
n Build the training for young people to ensure they can take their place in a sustainable economy.
