Suffolk County Council cabinet agrees two tier schooling for Stowmarket
Suffolk County Council Cabinet today voted through schools re-organisation for the Stowmarket area.
This followed a last minute bid by campaigners opposed to the move to two tier schooling who staged a public meeting at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds last night,
The Suffolk Action for Truth group wanted the county to pause the reorganisation.
The vote today means that county hall bosses will most likely rubber stamp the two tier system for Stowmarket at the next full council meeting
Combs, Stowmarket,Needham Market and Bacton middle schools will now close with Stowmarket Middle being used as a split site for Stowmarket High School.
Bury St Edmunds Schools are planned for re-organisation to two tier in the final move by County Hall to two tier education throughout Suffolk. The county says this will improve children’s results at Key Stage 2.
