Students’ Chinese qualification

Six students at King Edward VI School are celebrating after passing their OCR Chinese Speaking and Listening language qualification.

They follow in the footsteps of dozens of students who have developed their fluency in the language following the school’s five year partnership with Shanghai.

Charlotte Cotton, Mandarin Chinese language teacher, said: “Chinese is a very tough language to learn but it’s also fascinating and fun. These students are now on a firm footing for future study.”

King Edward VI will offer hundreds of students language taster courses in the summer.

Its partnership with China is also set to continue with an ‘advanced leadership exchange’ to Shanghai in October with 35 Chinese students visiting Bury and a similar number travelling to a partner school to develop leadership skills, sport, dance, music, English and maths.
