New state-of-the-art flooring has been unveiled in the main sports hall of Mildenhall Dome Leisure Centre.
The centre reopened on Monday revealing the new Polyurethane floor, which was installed over the Christmas holidays.
Andy Killin, facilities manager at ACL, said the new floor was a ‘huge improvement on the playing surface – a great asset to the centre’.
“Everybody will find that it’s an improved surface to play on and do their activities.
“It’s elastic energy absorbing quality gives it a very good resistant surface on which to play sport – a very smooth finish.
“The old floor had taken a lot of punishment over the years so this improves the facility.”
Previously, the sports hall had a hard, tiled surface.
The main sports hall is used by various sports groups including karate, badminton, football and basketball as well as by Mildenhall College.
Gary Brigden, duty officer at Mildenhall Dome Leisure Centre, said the old flooring had begun to chip and was wearing away, having been installed in the hall about 30 years ago, when the building first opened.
The new flooring was installed using a £35,000 grant from Suffolk County Council.
