Sports centre gets grant

Renovations to a 30-year-old sports pavilion will begin after it was awarded a grant of £45,083 from Norfolk County Council’s Community Construction Fund.

East Harling Sports and Social Club will put the money towards a £100,000 improvement project which will see the changing rooms updated and energy saving technology installed.

Liz Jones, project team coordinator, at East Harling Sports and Social Club, said: “We are absolutely over the moon, we’ve had a lot of support and are very grateful.

“We are 30-years-old, we want to do this so it will go on for another 30 years in the centre of the community.”

It is hoped the renovations will take place in the summer.

Norfolk County Councillor, Marion Chapman-Allen, said: “East Harling Sports & Social Club approached me just before Christmas to see if any funding was available to modernise facilities at their clubhouse.

“It was wonderful news to be told they had been successful and awarded their full bid of £45.083 towards modernising the club’s facilities.”
