Skate park plot laid out for residents to assess

RESIDENTS in Red Lodge have been invited to view the proposed site of a new skate park.

The site has been laid out on the field adjoining Red Lodge pavilion, which already contains children’s play equipment and sports pitches.

The 10x30m plot has been laid out so residents can see how it would look and decide whether it would be a welcome addition to the village.

A working group was first formed in 2009 to push for a skate park to be installed in the village, since when young people have made a presentation to Red Lodge Parish Council and a public survey has been carried out.

The public were last asked about the development during the winter of 2010/2011 when Clive Macleod, of the working group, said that feedback was positive.

Mr Macleod said the working group hoped that the skate park would cater for a variety of ages and abilities of skateboard, BMX and scooter riders.

Residents are asked to feed back any comments they have about the site to Red Lodge Parish Council by November 20.

On November 27, a meeting will be held at Red Lodge Sports Pavilion where residents will have the opportunity to discuss the scheme.

Mr Macleod said that he hoped the long-running saga would begin to draw to a conclusion following this public consultation.

Dependant on the outcome of the meeting, the parish council will decide whether to enter a planning application for a skate park on the site.
