Shabby shutters are transformed

A colourful art project has given a new lease of life to two shopping areas in Thetford.

Dull shop shutters at shopping parades in Pine Close and Canons Walk, on the Barnham Cross and Redcastle estates, have been decorated with colourful images depicting the heritage and history of the town.

Around 70 youngsters from Thetford took part in a series of workshops during the summer to think of designs for the project, run by Keystone Development Trust and supported with a 24,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Creative experts from Artists Anonymous spent nearly a month transforming the shutters to create images of Thetford's buildings, famous pioneers and Dad's Army characters.
