Secondary school and college top in league table
A secondary school and college in Bury St Edmunds are celebrating top acheivements in the latest league table results.
St Benedict’s Catholic School, in Beeton’s Way, was the highest performing school in Suffolk in the Key Stage Five A-level league tables results with an average point score per pupil of 1091.5.
Meanwhile, West Suffolk College was the top further education college in the Eastern region with 647 points per student and 215 points per entry.
It was a double success, for St Benedict’s which was the third best comprehensive school nationally.
It was also above Harrow School and Eton College in terms of points per candidate.
Head Hugh O’Neill said: “It’s especially important for us this year because everyone knows that our GCSE results were hugely disappointing.”
Phil Thirkettle, vice principal of the college, said: “We’re very pleased for our students and our staff work very hard.”
