Seats saga comes to a happy end

THE manager of Muffin Break in Bury St Edmunds has thanked customers after more than 800 people backed his petition for outside tables and chairs.

Darren Squire, manager at the business in the arc, said he had initially been refused the three tables and 12 seats but arc management then allowed them on a 10-week trial when Carluccios opened and had tables and chairs outside.

“That became nine months, then I was told I could no longer have them outside,” Mr Squire said.

The shop was left without the tables and chairs for six weeks over the summer, but the situation has now been resolved.

“I offered them some extra rent and they accepted it so everybody is happy,” said Mr Squire. “I’d like to thank my customers – their support was overwhelming.”
