Pupils at a Bury St Edmunds secondary have pulled out the stops to raise more than £15,000 for a range of charities.
County Upper School ‘s annual Charity Campaign saw students take part in everything from leg waxing to cake making for ten days in December.
Their efforts saw £15,6o7 raised - up from last year’s total of £14,852.
The figure was revealed to students, guests and governors by the Charity co-ordinators at a special assembly last Friday.
Vicky Neale, headteacher, said: “It was an incredibly moving and inspiring afternoon and the perfect way to end the term
“The whole school, led by the sixth form, has got behind the Charity Campaign in the last ten days and the real spirit of our school has shone through.”
The five main charities to benefit from the fund-raising were the Cancer Campaign in Suffolk, East Anglian Air Ambulance, Teenage Cancer Trust, British Heart Foundation and the Mo Farah Foundation.
St Nicholas Hospice and EACH (East Anglian Children’s Hospices) also received donations from the fund.
Creative students pulled together to make the event a success, with many taking the opportunity to show off their talents.
Fund-raising ventures included sponsored ice skating, a music evening, show jumping day, a staff versus students quiz and carol singing.
A sixth form revue, County’s Got Talent contest and a variety of stalls also featured.
The presentation assembly also saw a review of the school’s term.
