A school has appointed a new member of staff as part of a number of new initiatives to engage parents.

Lynda Corley has taken on the role of family support advisor at Barrow Primary aiming to build the confidence of parents and carers to deal with difficult parenting issues.

Her other duties include strengthening relationships and communication between home, school and other professionals as well as helping parents and carers support their children’s learning.

As part of the school’s extended provision for families there will be parenting workshops, emotional support, practical help and regular meetings,
