Robin plans 50 races for his 50th

A cancer patient is to run 50 races in 50 weeks.

Robin Belsom, who starts his challenge on his 50th birthday on Sunday, was diagnosed with bowel cancer in August last year and is determined to raise 5,000 for the team at Ipswich Hospital's Lavenham Ward, who treated him after two operations.

Following his last operation in December, Robin, of Needham Market, did his first training run on Boxing Day.

A keen runner, Robin has clocked up 30,000 miles over 20 years and run 10 marathons.
