THE owner of a stolen collection of models trains is offering a reward for their safe return.

The valuable and collectable large G-scale (1:22) models where stolen from a shed at the collector’s home in The Street, Pakenham, between Monday, March 19, and Wednesday, March 21, by someone who broke in through a hatch and left through a window.

The 24 models range from about 9ins to 4ft long and most are made by Lehmann Gross Bahn (LGB), one is made by Bachmann.

Other model train equipment was stolen plus an old Toshiba laptop.

The larger LGB steam locomotives retail for about £1,500 and even a small shunting locomotive is more than £500, though some of those stolen are no longer in production. A model similar to the black Santa Fe 2-8-2 locomotive pictured here fetched $1,080 at Christies in New York in 2006.

Anyone with information should call PCSO Jon Burke, quoting crime number BR/12/180 on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
