Relief road is back on the agenda for town
Long-running traffic problems in Mildenhall could be eased, if a proposal for a relief road receives backing.
The road, which was first proposed more than 15 years ago, was discussed at a meeting between MP for West Suffolk, Matthew Hancock, and Forest Heath district councillors Nigel Roman and David Bowman.
Mr Hancock said: “The meeting was useful and positive.
“We all agreed that this will be an important improvement for Mildenhall, which has long needed a relief road and currently suffers from disruptive levels of heavy traffic.
“I believe we are now moving in the right direction.”
Cllr Roman said the proposal was in its ‘very early stages’ but that Mildenhall’s traffic problems needed to be addressed and he would continue to push for a relief road to divert traffic from the town centre.
