PUPILS shared their knowledge of the stars when they took part in a national astronomy event at their school.

Bury St Edmunds County Upper students pointed out different constellations to families who attended the ‘Stargazing’ activity on Monday night.

The event was part of a national campaign spearheaded by TV scientist Brian Cox.

Headteacher Vicky Neale said: “There was a really nice atmosphere. We had three telescopes and others used their own. People brought star shaped biscuits and it was a really good evening out for the families.”

On Thursday, Year 10 pupils took part in a live webcast with Prof Cox and could listen to him answering questions.

Astronomy is run weekly at County Upper as an after-school activity and pupils can also study it as a GCSE.
