Dress rehearsal of Wind in the Willows at St James Middle school

Audiences were transported to Toad Hall with a Bury St Edmunds school’s colourful stage interpretation of the classic novel The Wind in the Willows.

Nearly 80 pupils shared the spotlight with another 10 working backstage for St James Middle’s production which was performed over three nights this week.

It followed six weeks of rehearsals lead by Jane Hart, head of performing arts.

She said: “The atmosphere was brilliant and they had a whale of a time. It was nice to see the older children working with the younger ones. Wind in the Willows is a good story and has quite a lot of main characters.”
