Porter painter puts on a solo show
Artist Andrew Harrington, who is having an exhibition in Bury.
ANDREW Harrington is a hospital porter by day and artist by night.
That still gives him enough time to produce work to exhibit in five or six exhibitions a year, but he only does one annual solo exhibition.
He has given that exhibition at the Edmund Gallery, on Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds, since it opened three years ago.
He admits he has his work cut out preparing for it because he plans to have 25 to 30 paintings on show and to produce enough cards, bookmarks and prints to sell to those with a smaller budget and he does all the printing himself.
“Most of the work is landscapes in pastels with a few acrylics,” he said. “I generally use pastels because it has a quality you can adapt to water and it reproduces nicely.
Andrew, of Tollgate Lane, Bury, also does pictures by commission. “They can be anything,” he said. “I’ve done family members, cats, dogs, horses and even parrots.”
The exhibition is open from 10am to 4.30pm daily from September 15 to 27 and entry is free.
