Portas snubs lead to £10,000 boosts

Three towns who lost out on the Portas Pilot scheme have been given £10,000 and access to expert advice.

Thetford, Brandon and Stowmarket were three of 326 bidders to get Town Team Partner Status on Monday.

Each partner will be given £10,000 and receive support from the Association of Town Centre Management.

Thetford’s bid group, SoRT iT (School of Radical Thought in Thetford), has already launched a night market and other initiatives.

Brandon and Stowmarket’s bids have been run by Forest Heath District Council and Stowmarket Town Centre Partnership respectively.
