Pop Up shop in Bury St Edmunds will help people stay warm in the winter
A pop up shop at 99 Risbygate Street in Bury St Edmunds will open from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday to Friday next week to offer people advice on keeping warm in winter and how to get help if you are struggling to pay your energy bills.
Visitors will be able to find out whether see if they are eligible for some of the free help on offer such as emergency boiler repairs, insulation, draught proofing or even assistance with paying fuel bills or the loan of a heater.
They will also receive advice and support on a range of issues including interest-free loans for oil heating top-ups, electric blanket checks, money management advice, meals-on wheels and supply of home safety and energy products.
The ‘Warm homes healthy people’ scheme also offers home energy surveys and can help people living in their own home, or one rented from a private landlord. It is aimed at the over 60s as well as families on a low income, families with children, households with a person with disabilities and young people with learning disabilities.
‘Warm homes healthy people’ is a partnership project across Suffolk and involves a range of organisations including local councils, charities such as Age UK and the Suffolk Foundation and voluntary groups in the county.
