Police treating garage fire as arson

Police are treating a fire that caused a garage to be cordoned off yesterday morning as arson.

The garage was cordoned off yesterday morning after the fire spread to asbestos sheeting in its roof.

Fire crews were called Newnham Close, at 8.34am where they found the garage well alight.

The fire was extinguished using one hosereel.

The environment agency attended to ensure the asbestos was safely removed.
