Police officers rewarded for work on rape case

Officers who worked on the Brandon abduction and rape case were rewarded at a ceremony held this week.

On Monday, Chief Constable Simon Ash presented Chief Constable Commendations to 34 officers and staff members who worked on the case where a woman was abducted by a stranger from the Tesco car park and raped in June last year.

Chief Con Simon Ash said: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to recognise the exceptional contribution made by Suffolk's police officers, police staff and members of the community.

"These awards demonstrate the commitment and hard work of those who work for and alongside Suffolk Police and, in some instances, the immense bravery shown by its officers."

The crime was investigated by the newly formed Major Investigation Team (MIT) and supported by other police departments. It tested the structure, procedures, resilience and detective ability of all the MIT staff.

The awards also recognised other members of Suffolk Police and the public for outstanding effort, courage and bravery.
