THE DISTRAUGHT wife of a Brandon doctor who has been missing for three months is hoping the surgery’s patients might help the family’s strenuous efforts to find him.

Dr David Lidgey, 51, who was with the Elbourne Surgery, in the High Street, disappeared at the end of June after dropping off his children at school.

He left a note telling his wife Shona, 44, who is also a GP, that he was going for a walk, which he loved to do in the area around their home in Hilgay, Norfolk.

But he has not been seen since. Mrs Lidgey said her husband at times tended to live in the past and the family had distributed posters in south coast towns where he spent his early life and in Leicester, where he went to university and became an ardent fan of the Tigers rugby union side.

She told the Bury Free Press: “We all love him. It is so sad. The worst part is not knowing what happened to him or will happen.”

Now she hopes patients of the surgery might be able to help, especially if they have friends or family in the Leicester area or in Portsmouth and Weymouth.

She wants them to send off a picture of Dr Lidgey.

On June 29, he is believed to have driven his children – a daughter aged 15, and sons aged 13 and eight – to school, returned his silver Volvo car to their home and then went off, without his wallet or mobile phone.

Police checks on his phone and PC have failed to find any evidence he was in liaison with anyone else.

But Mrs Lidgey, who practises at a King’s Lynn surgery, said: “I’m sure someone is helping him. It must be someone he knows.”

It follows three sightings in a week in Leicester after appeal posters were sent out, which served to allay early fears he might be dead.

He had suffered from depression and had gone off for a night once before.

David had never really settled in Norfolk, since the family moved from south London four years ago, his wife revealed.

She can be contacted on 07538 897728.
