Paralympic flame to visit Bury St Edmunds

THE Paralympic Flame is visiting Bury St Edmunds on August 26 at an event celebrating disability sports.

The flame will arrive at Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre at around 2.30pm with visitors being given the chance to take pictures of themselves with the lantern between 3pm and 4pm.

During the day people can try out a host of disability sports including wheelchair basketball, boccia and sitting volleyball.

Visitors can also find out more about disabled sailing club Sailability, the Bury Bombers wheelchair basketball team and the centre’s Big Splash and Little Splash sessions which encourage disabled adults and families with disabled children to get into swimming.

The flame will travel to Moyse’s Hall Museum on Monday August 27.

Needham Market is one of only 34 communities across the country hosting a Paralympic Flame event on August 24.

Amy Nettledon, an artist from Great Finborough, will act as Flame Ambassador and attend one of the four Flame Lighting events, taking part of the Flame back to the Flame Celebration in Needham Market.
