Paralympian makes an inspirational visit
Brian Alldis visits Horringer Court Middle School as part of their paralympics day.
A SUFFOLK Paralympian paid an inspirational visit to a Bury St Edmunds school to help pupils with their studies on the upcoming games.
Handcycle racer Brian Alldis, who is going for gold in London 2012, was the guest of honour at Horringer Court Middle’s Paralympic day when children enjoyed themed games and case study activities.
The school has implemented a six-week programme of studies on the games, including the seven values, ancient and modern Olympics, the forces involved in track cycling and a research project on an Olympic country.
Students have also exhibited work such as clay sculptures, miniature crafted scenery, custom-made crash helmets for an egg drop experiment and ICT animations.
Rob Francksen, leader of the project, said the ‘exceptionally successful’ work had ‘enlightened and inspired’ pupils.
