Pair to fight it out in modelling final

A care worker and a beautician are preparing for a competition which could change their careers and lives.

Rebecca Howes, 24, and Vicki Isted, 21, from Bury St Edmunds, have both been named as finalists in a national modelling competition.

The winner of the Model of the Year Competition, run by the Kerri Parker Model Academy, in Norwich, would receive prizes worth around 10,000.

The final 25 girls, including Rebecca and Vicki, were chosen out of around 275 entrants.

Rebecca, a full-time carer, qualified for the finals in a tutorial day run by the academy.

She said: "I have always done a bit of modelling, such as wedding shows, but it has been part-time. If one of us wins the competition then our life will change."

Vicki, who runs a beauty salon on the Moreton Hall estate, was named Miss Winter Wonderland at the academy to get through to the final.

The event will see the finalists compete in rounds such as best swimwear, best clubwear and best ballgown on December 6 at Mercy Nightclub, in Norwich.

Vicki said: "I just love modelling – the whole buzz of it all and being in front of the camera. To be able to do it for a full-time job, it would be great."
