One chief for leisure trusts in Bury St Edmunds, Brandon and Mildenhall

The chief executive of Abbeycroft Leisure in Bury St Edmunds has taken on the same role for a trust in charge of leisure centres in Brandon, Mildenhall and Newmarket.

Warren Smyth has been appointed joint CEO of both Abbeycroft Leisure and Anglia Community Leisure.

Tony Bass who was CEO of Anglia Community Leisure has been made redundant.

Sarah Howard, Chairman of the Abbeycroft board said: “Aligning our structure with that of our partners St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Forest Heath District Council makes sense.”

Abbeycroft Leisure runs Bury and Haverhill Leisure Centres, Thurston Sport Education Centre, in partnership with the College, The Gym in Ipswich, and a gym at the Port of Felixstowe.

Anglia Community Leisure manages Mildenhall, Newmarket and Brandon Leisure Centres as well as Mildenhall Swimming Pool in partnership with Forest Heath.
